Gateway to
Democracy
State of Carinthia & kärnten.museumMULTIMEDIA DESIGN FOR A PERMANENT EXHIBITION
For the new permanent exhibition “Gateway to Democracy” at the Landhaus Klagenfurt, we were responsible for the concept and production of all audiovisual and multimedia elements.
Located at the entrance of the historic Great Coat of Arms Hall, the
exhibition creates a space where democracy becomes visible, tangible, and interactive. It communicates the history and role of the Carinthian Parliament (Kärntner Landtag) as well as the foundations of Austrian democracy — presented in an innovative way and specifically tailored to young audiences such as school classes.
In close collaboration with the curatorial team, we developed a contemporary multimedia framework that stages the content in an atmospheric and engaging manner. Films, animations, and custom-designed graphical interfaces expand the analogue exhibition layer and provide an emotional, educationally structured entry point into complex topics.
A key highlight is an interactive app featuring augmented reality elements. It invites visitors to explore the Landhaus from new perspectives, connecting historical contexts with present-day viewpoints. By merging the physical space with a digital extension, the exhibition becomes a dynamic experience — informative, visually compelling, and memorable long after the visit.
The project was created in collaboration with kärnten.museum, Lendarchitektur, Isabella Tasch, political scientist Kathrin Stainer-Hämmerle, Frame Records & Codeflügel.
With this exhibition, the Landhaus Klagenfurt is not only revitalized architecturally, but also reactivated as a place for political education and democratic awareness. We’re proud to be part of this meaningful project — at the intersection of design, history, and social responsibility.
